30Jan Yay! I just bought another domain, again!
You know, once you got a hang of the web, you tend to get addicted to it. In a way, I am much ahead of the people around my age. Therefore, I have an edge over the geeks because I know what they want but I can twiddle around to bring what they want, online.
So, on a hot afternoon, with too much time on hand and some money in the PayPal, I just bought another domain. Finding domain with a good name and popular search term and ending with a dot com is like finding some treasure. I couldn’t get the name I want but I just buy the name broken down with a hyphen. Not sure how it helps in SEO but who cares…It is only USD10 per year. I still have space in my hosting with BlueHost for five more domains. Setting up the Wordpress is just a click. And privacy comes free. I can even host adult sites! Whee! Eheh, not that I know how to set up one. Hahaha.

I think its much easier to setup domain with Wordpress… Blogspot is giving a migraine trying to setup my domain.
Sigh… but I’m too used to Blogspot liao.

I have been getting this e-mail from some site that invites me to get a domain from Bluehost. Ya, I know they offer 6 free domain hosting, the thing is this fella says he can set up 6 affilliate websites that guarantees 100USD revenue per site per day, free for me!

I think that bugger trying to make the 65 USD referral fees oni lah.

I think its easier to setup domain with Wordpress. Blogspot is giving me a migraine setting it up even till today. But I’m too used to Blogspot liao… so no choice lar.

pablopabla - Nochet develop. I am going to try CMS on it. Enuff of Wordpress experiment liao. Sometimes hor, some sites tempt you initially with free stuffs and later, you hafta pay a lot. ‘Cos you will be like tied to them.
Daryl - It is not that difficult to host our own. Bryan normally set up everything and we just need to login to start writing. You should try Wordpress. Your blog template and content are great!
AhPek - Tipu wan ler. When I bought the BlueHost hosting, I have like giant size diskspace and bandwith. One trillion! Lucky I paid for two years, now they reduced the capacity to half only.
pelf - Not sure about that but I have been owning my own domain like five years already. I may be the oldest, I guess. Hehehe.

Go for Namecheap.com and get some coupons. Should be able to get a new domain at $8.
The discount is handy when you have more … every year when it comes to renewal, it will make a difference.

Regarding your response to Ah Pek, you mean to say that when you sign up with Bluehost they promise you this and that but when you renew, they reduce the capacity kah?

pablopabla - Ya, you see, the package only applies for X number of years you paid for. So, if you buy a huge space, start storing all your things there…. And say two years later, they increase their prices, your stuffs are like being held ransom there. Either you move host, which can cause downtime or you pay for it. If you are in business, you will have problem if there is server migration problems.
David - I normally depend on Bryan to do that for me. But now no more mySQL account or whatever on this hosting so cannot expand. I am also trying to get my hands on CMS so I buy and use it as a learning platform.
Daryl - Penang blogger, 20 something, male, single, business grad from local U….We are actually renting our sites from him. He is the tuan rumah, we are renting rooms. But he has set up and guide many local bloggers like Rojakz, Apek, Pablopabla and many, many more bloggers to own their own domain. sapiensbyran(@)gmail.com. Enquire lah, if you like. And I don’t get commission wan hor? ‘Cos my purpose is to get people off with their own domain and it is better to find locals we can deal with than huge companies hosting. That one, you need to ask intelligent questions and issue support tickets. This wan, you can ask noob questions. Hehehe.
