I have been writing paid posts for more than a year. Some of these companies like PayPerPost, SponsoredReviews, ReviewMe and LinkWorth have a pool of blogs where advertising agencies and companies can hire bloggers to do a paid review for them.
Previously when this blog did paid post, the fee was USD120 to USD180 per post. I have stopped making money writing paid posts on some of my blogs now. However, all those months, I have observed why some bloggers get more paid reviews.
Here are some of the reasons :
1) Your blog traffic
2) Your blog rankings in Alexa, Technorati, Google Pagerank and the SERPs
3) Your blog general appearance
4) The blogger persona
5) The kind of message your blog projects
In the local scene, I have advertisers who approached me directly to ask me to do advertorial or paid post. I normally reject them because I do not like to deal directly as payment can be an issue. Then, I also have to deal with picky advertisers and their unreasonable demands. So, I will refer them to my preferred ad middleman company and get it done. It is just like buying a house. I prefer to get my real estate agent to do the legworks for me and if I want to tell the advertiser off, I can do so through the middleman.
Some of those companies who asked me to do a local paid review are those who reads my blog. Or at least their staffs do. They get the kind of personality I exude from my blog and if they like it and feel I represent the kind of consumer they target, they hire me.
It is no secret that writing paid reviews or sponsored posts or advertorials is the best income resource. Less than 6 months ago, I can make USD1,500/month just from one company and I work for several companies. Therefore, working hard on :
1) Your blog traffic
2) Your blog rankings in Alexa, Technorati, Google Pagerank and the SERPs
3) Your blog general appearance
4) The blogger persona
5) The kind of message your blog projects
are part of the job. You cannot have a shitty blog with no traffic and a wretched attitude plus some boring looking posts to attract advertisers. Advertisers are human. They are the marketing staffs in the company who are always on the hunt to find potential platform to advertise on.
Blog advertising is the way to go. With the political tsunami on March 8 and with the breed of politicians who call themselves bloggers, I must say that we have exciting times ahead in making money from our blogs. Now every companies know what blog is. (though we are not exactly hot about politicians-bloggers, we have to admit that they lend blogs the VIP factor which companies like)
So, does your blog have the above five criterias?
