19Jan Three days, only 3-day is all it takes to get organic traffic to a new blog
About a week ago, I activated one of my dormant domain. I bought the domain for more than a year and never bother to even set up a Wordpress blog on it. But I went and set up a new Wordpress blog for that domain.
I added three posts.
I added a Sitemeter.
Then, I wait for traffic.
Within three days, MSN live search is already sending me lots of organic traffic.
After four days, Google has indexed the site.
Then, after about a week, I pasted my Google Adsense codes. So far, not clicks yet.
But it is very encouraging because I didn’t do any SEO to this new blog. I didn’t link it from my old blogs with pagerank because the blog is meant to be anonymous.
If you want faster indexing and getting organic traffic, you can link it from your old blogs. Or you can wait three days.

I don´t understand..
From where comes your traffic, if you didn´t promote the blog neither didn´t SEO work on it?
Can you track the origin of traffic?

Interesting, I think it does work in your favour to promote your make money blogs, slowly building on your traffic does help but are you still seeing traffic organically arrive at the site now?

Lilian, does SiteMeter have any advantage over StatCounter or G-Analytics?

Mrs Chan,
Those 3 in depth posts that you write must be highly SEO optimized…
Are you talking about reviving a wordpress blog or a free blog like Blogger?
Thanks and Yours Sincerely,
A hatchling in the blogging world,

My name is Lilian and Mrs. Chan is my mother. I said revive a dormant domain, using Wordpress.org blog.
Lorna – I like Sitemeter ‘cos it gives me the latest stats and I can easily refer with one look. I find StatCounter too complicated for me.
kate – Sitemeter referral shows us what are the keywords the organic traffic were looking for. I am only interested in organic traffic. :)

It does help that you had a domain registered for a year before using it, search engines see this and will be much nicer.

Whoops, I created a new wordpress blog and found that Google indexed it after 4 days!

How on this earth did you manage that?! I assume it was two things that made you famous enough to recognize your blog as important: Your 3 posts was very fresh, very informative, and a bunch of content. Along with the tags you added, Wordpress, which came with its authority (as always) was the one who did the hard work. Wordpress is optimized for the search engines in such a great way, that new posts get indexed by the king of search engines, Big G, within 5 minutes. And also, perhaps the fact that your domain was already a year old???
To your great success, though.

Does it work that way? I thought you need to use keywords to attract enough traffic to make money. Anyway good findings Lilian…do update us more with your new findings and see where this new blog leads you to!

I think, it has something to do with your domain name which have aged. In fact, on the contrary. You climbed the rankings this fast thanks to your aged domain, only. I had build a squidoo lens (I’m a Newbie) and stuffed it with links. (I just heard about a domain wit lots of link will get ranked up very high). Within 2 weeks my lens had over 100 backlinks, and it immediately sort of went way down in the rankings. I couldn’t figure . . . Then I learn’t my lens went to jail! Google sandboxed my squidoo lens! Why? Because it was brand new. And a site that is new with so much links is no normal for Google, and it will filter your site for a few months, because they think you are a spammer trying to get a quick first-page result. Nope. Google gives much more reward to old domains. Big G trusts them. . .
Now I wish I had an aged domain . . . But now I am in jail for still a few weeks more to go . . .

OK, now I’m going to have to google Sitemeter. :) I just converted one of my blogs from moveable type to wordpress and lost my pagerank. I assume the next go-round I will get some more pr love back – but I’m interested in what sitemeter can do. Thanks!

Hi,
I have worked on many sites for adsense optimization. But i think if you are looking only for money from adsense. You are losing a lot of things.Adsense revenue is not so much than i spend on maintainig my sites. My friends at Oyesite.com suggested me for many other ways to monetize my sites. Its true adsense is a vital source but you cannot rely wholly on it

Dear Lilian,
Beautiful things happen on Valentine’s Day…and you started me blogging.
I actually stumble on your website as i was browsing in between doing my work, very interesting…witty, direct, obnoxious, honest to the point & a little crude sometimes!..and that’s reality…the best part you generate income while doing so. I thought that excellent!
I decided to give a go.
Immediate started a blog on my favourite subject with 1 post. Learn to set a sitemeter last nite & very excited to found out that my site has been visited 2 people….mmmm…i know thats nothing by your standard but i’m excited nonetheless.
Now I’m educating myself how to channel traffic to my site, how to make my site interesting, ways to monitize my site etc etc.
This is a whole new world all together…I love it!
Thank you Lilian keep posting, I have much to learn.
Luv, MAZNI

Coincidentally I just set up a new WP blog less than a week ago so reading this post is very timely. I’m still not indexed although I’ve linked it to my old blog, forum signatures, and did some blog commenting. Thanks for sharing.
