The secret is in your template

This post is not for those who are crazy over SEO or familiar with XHTML and whatever Web 2.0 blahs. This post is for the beginners who just started blogging or those who have blogged for a while and wonder why people hardly buy their text links or award them some high paying paid posts.

If you have a sucky looking template or it is so common or one of those 16 or so sample templates from Blogspot or that 10 from WordPress, then, that could be the reason, no one wants to hire you. You see, sometimes, some of the advertisers we encounter are noobs like some of us. They want appearances. They want nice looking template. They want blue eyes, blonde hair chicks or something.

When you have picked a template that has oomph, they will hire you. Now, go back and take a look if your template is nothing ordinary. Then, go Google for some ‘free templates (insert blogger or WordPress) and learn how to change it.

Don’t use the excuses like, “I am a total noob when it comes to technical stuffs like this. html makes me frigid. I am afraid if I touch any of those buttons, I will accidentally set off the nuclear bomb and blow up planet earth.”

Many of the good people out there have written very good tutorial on how to change your Blogger or WordPress templates. There are some videos too. So, don’t let fear hold you back. Go on, strip naked, take a risk and jump right in!

Some alternatives, if you are blogging from Blogger, sign up for a new blog and use that as your guinea pig. This way, you won’t risk deleting off your whole blog. Or if you are using your own domain on WordPress, pay someone to do it if you dare not do it! I changed a few of my blogs template and offers are pouring in out of a sudden. So, I am not kidding you that your template matters.

Now, tell me you won’t feel hungry just looking at my free blogger template on my alternative food blog?

I’m a web programmer, and for whatever reason, I hate doing wordpress themes, so I just hope for the best out of the free ones.

Someday, I’ll cash in on developing more professional ones.

    That is so true.

For WordPress users i highly suggest searching the term “Themes” (WordPress Themes) rather than “templates”
