The cursed 666

I read about this special position of number 6 from one of the SEO blog but I didn’t bookmark it and cannot recall which blog it is. To be frank, if you are interested to learn anything, learn it from the masters and not from silly crappers like my blog because it is like blind leading the blind. Or sometimes, in the land of the blind, if you have one eye, you will be king.

So, remember this – read from all sources and never take anyone’s word for granted. What works for one blogger may not work for another.

What is the cursed 6? Well, if you have a Google Webmaster account, go and find out where your blog is position. Find out the keywords and sort it. See how many cursed 6 you get.

This is the screenshot I took from my Google Webmaster for one of my blog. If you notice, there are four keywords where my blog is on position number 6. Sorry I have to blur out the keywords because you must never reveal your keywords if you don’t want your competitors to pawn you.

So, what are keywords? It is those things that people are most likely use to find something that is related to your blog. It is useless to be on #1 for something that no one searches. But it is good to be on number 10, 11, 20, 21 and so on. Below is the same blog but this time, the clicked results. Notice that there is no 6?

Why is the number 6 cursed? Well, according to the SEO blog, he has done studies and found that usually surfers who are looking for something normally skips the middle section of the page. They will either see the top few, scroll to the bottom to get to the next page and missed the number 6 position which is in the middle section. If you notice, Google result normally has 10 results and the next page button is placed at the bottom of the page.

Now, do you get that?

So being on #6, it means Google likes you but well…..not exactly. It is like American Idol….you are not quite there yet, so says Simon.

Now, go Google Malaysia and find make money and tell me what do you find? I hope you don’t have that too many sixes? If you do, work on those keywords to move forward.

If you know which SEO site said about this number 6, please let me have the link to credit him.

Mr. Rajawang – LOL, we are lucky to be in good positions. Do you check if your clicks have no 6 there? It is kind of true, right? People click from other numbers mostly.
