Thanks to HongKiat, I redirected my URL to www

**I had posted this earlier but now I am in a different server and the post is gone. Here’s a repost**

I had been trying to get my site to redirect to http://www.5xmom.com because it has a PR4/10 whereas http://5xmom.com is only PR3/10.

Over at PayPerPost, our page rank matters but PPP normally takes the higher PR URL. Thank goodness for that because sometimes, the diffrence of one PR makes a lot of difference in the payout or at times, we do not even qualify for the opp.

I had tried a few times to change my http://5xmom.com to http://www.5xmom.com but had been unsuccessful. Probably the code I copied over is corrupted or something because it messed up my main root directory. Previously, the tutorial given by John Chow was so confusing and I need to change my URL in the code itself.

However, this morning, I learnt from HongKiat’s site how to do it. And it takes less than five minutes. Just copy and paste the code from HongKiat’s post, paste it to your .htaccess file and that’s it.

To further learn how and why, go over to HongKiat‘s post. I like his blog because they are written in simple language and easy for us (noobs, that is) to understand.

Thanks, Hong Kiat.

I’ve read this somewhere but never changed the .htaccess but after seeing you do this I took the plunge and did it too. It was surprisingly easy and now my andrewooi.com redirects to http://www.andrewooi.com. Of course it’s still PR 0 but better start early and not have an evil twin with a different PR. I also believe that by redirecting, more traffic will be focused back to the main www website right?
