Have you Review Ads on Google Adsense?
Google Adsense came up with this new feature yesterday. I just login to my Google Adsense and took a look at the advertisers advertising on my blogs. As I have quite a number of blogs, there are lots of different types of advertisers.
One thing I notice. There are so many ads that I haven’t seen before. You know why? Google serves the ads for the specific region surfers come from. So, if I am located in Malaysia and the advertisers only target their ads for US visitors, I won’t be able to view those ads.
Therefore, it is nice to see that I have so many nice looking ads on my blog. I have never seen them before and didn’t know that I have these advertisers for all sorts of beauty products.
At the same time, it is one helluva fun time to block those ‘Make Money Online’ advertisers. Yeah, I do block many advertisers from my blog because I hate their fugly banners. :P I mean, I am a make money blogger so why should I let others advertise, right? But it is hard to completely block them all though. If you are reviewing your ads and you wish to block those advertisers, Google wants to know why you block them. I choose ‘They are my competitors’.
I don’t encourage you to block or filter your ads because you may see a lower income as less ads will be served. But what the heck, if you dislike a certain group of advertisement, say cat urine odour on your food blog, by all means, block them and tell Google the ad is irrelevant.
I am glad Google makes it easy for us to review our ads and also the convenience of filtering ads group that are direct competition to our blog.

What to do if your Adsense spikes
I use the Adsense notifier by Mincus which is a Firefox add-on. The purpose is to satisfy the fanatic in me and also to monitor for any suddenly increase in clicks.
Few nights ago, I notice a huge spike in earnings and that sets off an alert in me. I check my stats and roughly know the reason why but I do not wish to take any chances as the increase is tremendous. So, I wrote to Adsense, quoting my blog URL, the high CTR and also the earnings.
I got a reply within 24 hours and below is an excerpt of the email I got from Adsense. I have taken out some of the information but in a gist…
(quote)
Thanks for letting us know about this situation. Rest assured that we’ve noted your input, and we’ll continue to monitor the situation closely.
I understand that you’re concerned about keeping your account in good standing. I also realize that you might have questions about what Google is doing to prevent invalid click activity. You should know that our specialists carefully monitor clicks and impressions on Google ads in order to protect your interests as well as those of our advertisers. To do this, we use both automated systems and human reviews, analyzing all ad clicks for any invalid click activity that may artificially drive up an advertiser’s costs or a publisher’s earnings.
Lastly, I wanted to let you know that in the future, we may adjust your payment for any days during which invalid clicks occurred. This helps us protect the integrity of the AdSense program and properly credit advertisers for any invalid activity.
(unqoute - bcoz the blockquote css is missing :P )
Note :
Some of my personal tips on avoiding getting banned by Google Adsense :
1) If you are not the only sole user of your PC, remember to remind the rest of the users never to access your websites as they may inadvertently clicked on your ads. I have drilled all my younger children never to access my sites as they know the deadly consequences of accidentally clicking on my ads.
2) Avoid whining to your blog readers that you are not earning much from Adsense which is indirectly begging for clicks. If all your readers know how pathetic you are, they may out of compassion click on your ads as they leave your blog everyday. This will sets off a pattern which can clearly be seen by Adsense.
3) Google is that almighty Google and even if you are accessing from differenct PC but may have the same IP, i.e. say you are using your college PCs or something, they will know the pattern. So, don’t be greedy and kill your own ads. Leave them alone!
Of course, there are other reasons that you may get banned which includes :
1) Display of p0rn0 pics, guns, drugs etc etc
2) Your site contain hatred stuffs and dangerous things
3) Your ads are misleading like some thrashy magazine where readers do not know where the ads begin and content starts
And the scariest part is - If you are banned, there is usually little chance of a review because Google normally assess well before banning your site. There is almost no negotiation at all. That’s why it is good to be safe than sorry.
Although pay per click is the best plan of search engine optimization, still a webmaster prefers newer sem plans like email marketing as well as other strategies. Only with dedicated servers can one accomplish all this.

How do I request a reissue of a payment from Google Adsense?
A friend told me he found an old cheque from Google Adsense which is almost a year old because it was misplaced and he forgot all about it. I am not sure if Adsense is going to reissue the check for him.
However, now, I am in similar situation. We dilly-dally about cashing out the income for November which was issued on December 24th, 2007 because my paymaster was too lazy to cash it for me. Yayaya…you know the story.
I thought we can cash the two months payment at one shot. Unfortunately, CIMB cannot trace the payment and after checking with Western Union, it was found that Western Union has returned the money to Google Adsense. What? It is just one month and a few days!
Then, I got to sieve through Google Adsense FAQ and found this FAQ :
How do I request a reissue of a payment?
If you receive payments by standard delivery check, you can request a reissue of a payment made in any month after the 25th of the following month. For example, to request a reissue of a check originally dated February 27th, you’d need to write to us after March 25th.
If you receive checks by Secured Express Delivery, you can request a reissue of any month’s payment after the 5th of the following month. For example, to request a reissue of a check originally dated February 27th, you’d need to write to us after March 5th.
To request a new check, please contact us and specify the number, date, and amount of the check that you’d like reissued. You can find this information by visiting your Payment History page and clicking on the details link related to the payment for the appropriate month.
I have sent in my request and wonder when Google Adsense will re-send the payment to me? I hope they don’t charge me a fee for the extra admin work. I know what you are thinking…
Either :
1) What? Too much money, give you money you don’t bother to cash out issit?
2) What? Google Adsense income too little so you don’t bother to cash out issit?
None of the above. I have to rely on my master. I am only a poor blogger who blogs. Nameless, account-less and penniless. BTW, I have cashed out December income yesterday and the rate was 3.27 from CIMB.

Adsense has paid
I still haven’t cashed out the last Adsense payment and now, the new one is in.
Well, looks like a trip to CIMB or Pos Malaysia which has the Western Union logo will bring lots of moolah for Chinese New Year! I am going to get them in cash, take a photo and blog it. Had been meaning to get them in Ringgit and sen in cold hard cash because I usually put them back into my CIMB savings account.
So, have you receive your payment for December Adsense income? Usually, around 24th or 25th of the month, they will calculate our income for the previous month and within a few days, i.e. before the 31st/30th of the month, they will give us our 10 digit number and all we need is to find a branch of CIMB or Pos Malaysia (even if you don’t have an account with CIMB) and cash out in Malaysian Ringgits.

“I make eggs (zero income) from my Google Adsense!”
I was in a group MSN chat the other day and wasn’t really paying attention to the whole topic until I saw that someone ‘have three eggs’ per day. I was like, WOW, those cholesterol! They only realised that I thought they really mean chicken eggs.
Actually, they were lamenting that sometimes, their Google Adsense have zero income, i.e. 0.00. Well, let me share a bit about my Google Adsense ride because I just realised that I have official earned USD8K in the last two years. I joined Google Adsense in August 2005. Before that I was banned once due to fradulent clicks. Yay! I earned the ‘Bad blogger’ status before.
Here are what you should know before having ideas that Google Adsense is the goose that lays the golden eggs. Hmmm..google, goose, adsense, no cents. Nice eh?
1) If you have no traffic you can ditch your Adsense or you may end up with depression and a serious issue with your self-esteem.
2) Google Adsense is like that ‘Exit’ door to many people who are noobs. So, if you are blogging for tech geeks and those who are in the more ‘literate’ group, you can forget about it. But if you are catering to kids and grandmas, then, it is worth putting that ‘Exit’ door. In fact, I have never clicked on a single Adsense for as long as I remember. LOL.
Why Exit? Because when someone ‘fell’ into your blog, they need to get out somewhere. So, those Adsense are their way of ‘going out’ of your blog.
3) Expect zero income for months if you have no niche topic.
4) If you read about people earning big money from Adsense, I can tell you that 80% of them are lying.
5) Google Adsense is like a time bomb, about to detonate anytime. You never know when your account is going to be suspended. And income is never stable. One day you get a lot, next whole week, nothing much, then it spikes and up and down it goes.
How to earn money from Adsense then?
a) Build your blog content, focus on specific topics;
b) Build your traffic;
c) Spy around those blogs that you look up to and try to use the same format they use;
d) Forget that you have the ads there;
e) Read my blog and especially those topics under the specific category related to making money
