		<description>My son bought a red Vaio laptop in January 2008.  First problem was in June 2008.  Sent back to Sony in November 2008.  They wiped the hard drive and lost all his programs.  By June 2009 it was broken again and wouldn&#039;t boot up. He didn&#039;t want to send it back and have everything wiped out again.  I called customer no service this week and after 3 hours was escalated to &quot;National Customer Service&quot; where they reiterated that it was out of warranty and they wouldn&#039;t fix it.  They were extremely nasty and acted as if he already got his moneys worth out of this $1000 computer I then called their general counsel in San Diego.  The assistant had someone from &quot;Executive Customer Service&quot; call me.  He finally agreed to send a box and pay for the repair.  I asked him what I was going to do when it broke again, since he refused to replace this defective product.  He gave me his number and told him to call him if (read &quot;when&quot;) it breaks and said he would take care of it.
My son is saving to buy and Apple.  I&#039;m glad I replaced my Sony last month with a Dell. They&#039;ve lost another good revenue customer.</description>

My VAIO is barely a year old (of course just past warranty afew months ago) and its doing bizarre things - like not even booting up some days. Frequently the mouse pad causes the cursor to go in reverse, but i didn&#039;t have time to be without the computer (being self employed) for 2 weeks for it to be replaced.

Some software doesn&#039;t install as others have experienced.

As a professional filmmaker, I use Sony Cameras and generally find them to be excellent and robust for shooting around the world. But they should work for what you pay for them!

But I&#039;ve been buying VAIOS since 2000 out of some weird sense of loyalty, and they&#039;ve steadily got worse with each new model. But i&#039;ve finally woken up and this is definitely the last one.

A new Dell is on the way!
