There was this debate whether one can survives as a fulltime blogger and whether there is any form of security being one. I suppose a lot of people are so tune to working and having the impression that it provides a more secure income. The company will automatically contribute to our pension funds and when we retire, we know that a sum of money will be waiting for us.
However, in my personal opinion, one can still make it as a fulltime blogger if the person has the discipline to manage their finance well. One cannot just rely on the basic income but have to be in the know on what’s hot and profitable. So, it is wise for the individuals to keep themselves up to date with finance news and be aware of good investment opportunities.
I think we cannot just rely on earning but also investing some money to make more money. For those in the UK, you may want to know more about this site, FM. FM is a Financial News and information site for the UK, providing latest news on investments, economy, mortgages, banking, and more. There are a lot of reading articles and other informative pieces which can help one to spread out their savings and at the same time, learn how to invest wisely.
Ultimately, I agree that it is risky to leave a day job and focus on blogging alone. But with smart financial planning and management, one surely can become successful and rich like those probloggers, isn’t it?

I think you’re right that with “smart financial planning” you leave yourself less vulnerable to the risks of full-time blogging. But people forget that it’s also true with other employment also.
The age of staying at a job for 30 years and working towards your pension are over. I’m sure people who worked at Enron thought they had secure jobs right up until the time they got let go.

I am seriously thinking about quitting from my day job within these few months.
I do not have much of a plan except to make sure I have backups like freelance work and part-time contract jobs in case blogging full time does not work.
And yeah, it’s hard to break the mindset that you need a fulltime job to make a living.

Agree, smart money management is especially important for bloggers because the income can vary so much from month to month. Really anyone should be acting this way tho as anyone can be fired at any time.

No business can survive without money management, it’s a must in order to sustain and grow any business. With good planning, you will go black sooner.
