Surprise, surprise, the postman came this morning, much earlier than I expected. Yeap, I paid for the courier charges because I am impatient. Moreover, I figure I can easily earn the money back.
Now that I have the VMI card, I *should* be able to withdraw my PayPal with it through the atm machines here which has Cirrus. But I am not going to risk it yet because there are so many disclaimers in the email I got from VMI agent. Moreover, I have a comfortable solution by asking a friend to help me with the PayPal. He banked in the Ringgit Malaysia cash for me into my CIMB and I never even have to leave home at all. The money stays in my CIMB because hehehe, my money is my money. My husband money is mine too. So, why use my money, right?
As a friend, I wouldn’t advise you to apply for the USD30 card unless you have a lot of money in your PayPal which you cannot clear. Make sure you can easily earn the USD30 or else, it is rather costly. But a few of my friends have done it because our money is piling up in PayPal and we get very annoyed staring at them but cannot touch it.
Again, I am not going to touch the withdrawal button on PayPal. Freaky! For example, I received a notification from PayPal that they are going to put two small amounts into my VMI account to test out the card but nothing happens so far. I am supposed to try it with two small amounts, as advised by VMI and I am not going to do that too. No doubt the other earlier owners of VMI have no problems, remember that lately PayPal is getting stricter so we never know what will happen. I cannot afford to get my account frozen, if you notice how much I made per day on PPP. But if you have just recently withdraw from your PayPal using VMI, I will love to hear from you.

(May 22, 2007 - 12:04 pm)Gosh I’d want to apply for this only to accept payment not so much to withdraw. Are there monthly charges to maintain this account?

(May 22, 2007 - 1:14 pm)Just withdrew my money using VMI on Saturday. So far so good. But in my account, it said that I have slightly over RM1100 (after deduct US$10 to leave in the acc, and US$5 for withdrawal), and I figured that I could withdraw RM1,000 first to see if it goes thru. But I got the message “insufficient funds”. Huh? So I just had to settle in withdrawing RM950. Blech..

(May 22, 2007 - 2:41 pm)Now I’m wondering shall I apply for one too. I dont need a VMI to withdraw money as I have my cousin to help me to bank in the money to my Maybank account. I just need the VMI to be able to accept payment in Paypal. So you think is worth to get one? I’m not earning much yet, but since this paypal problem, I got hundred over bucks pending for me to accept , so what the sifu’s advise?

(May 22, 2007 - 3:25 pm)KennyP – I desperate cos I have several hundreds in Paypal which is not cleared. Also I like to try new things mah.
ParisB – I think no monthly charges, only one time USD30 (and USD3-USD25 on your choice of postage). You will cleared your payment the same time you applied for your card, no need to even wait for the arrival of the card. So relieved. After I got the money, I fast fast cash out through Bryan. Now, I am testing with a small amount to see if I can withdraw.
andrew – If small amount, really not worth the risk cos there are things that VMI cannot promise us. Paypal can change their policy anytime so the card may not work all the time. For us with a lot of money stucked there, USD30 to clear it, ok lah.
papaJ – Why no activate? You waiting for the printed statement of yr credit card?
JAQC – After I read yr comment, I had tested with two payments of USD12. See how it goes.
malcom – Yeah, such relieve to see a big surge in our Paypal instead of those ‘Add a US Bank’ obstacles.
dragonmummy – Yeah lor, I also applied the VMI card for the purpose of clearing the PayPal. I am asking Bryan to help cos I am too lazy to go to the bank lah. All my Paypal straight into my bank and stays there forever. Hehehe.

(May 22, 2007 - 4:17 pm)Hey Lilian – monthly fees of $2.70 a month for the VMI according to millie. still contemplating if I should get it just to clear funds like you heh…
Malcolm
(May 23, 2007 - 10:13 am)ParisB and lilian.. Each Virtual Money ATM debit card should have a minimum balance of $10.00 USD and will be there to pay for at least 3 months of your monthly fee of $2.70.

(May 23, 2007 - 11:29 am)Hi, Lilian,
Could I get the email address of Bryan- the money changer ? It seems that a lot of bloggers are using his service…;D
Julian
(May 23, 2007 - 11:31 am)Yeah VMI has a monthly fee of USD2.70. If u dont put any money inside, and they dont deduct the fee, then maybe ur card cannot be used after next month. Paypal said they will send two small amounts to VMI but in actual fact, this will NEVER happen or appear in VMI dunno for what reason. But if you transfer money, yes, it will go in there.

(May 28, 2007 - 2:34 pm)Hi Charles,
Thanks a lot for the info. Lucky my USD24 got through. It is sitting in my VMI account but I haven’t withdraw it out yet. Since my friend is helping me, I don’t need to worry about withdrawing. Looks like those who waited saved USD30 after all.
