I wanted to ask if I can open a USD foreign bank account with them. And nope…they only allow them for three purposes:
1) Education
2) Investment
3) Employment
And I must have supporting documents and subject to their branch manager’s approval. Ish, I asked, “Wow, even if I have a lump sum of money to deposit there, I also cannot open?”
Answer, “Nope”
Dude, not that I am into money laundering lah. Don’t want mah don’t wan lor. Ish!

(May 12, 2007 - 6:46 pm)Go to DBS Bank in Singapore, tell the girl at the counter you want to open a Debit Card account. Just show her your IC and she’ll fill in the form for you (very efficient), pay S$500 as deposit and presto, you get your Debit Card on the spot! Remember, only DBS bank. Not Maybank or any other bank.
Return to Malaysia and inform PayPal about your Singapore account where they should channel your money earned. Next time when you need to withdraw from PayPal, go to any ATM in Malaysia that accepts debit card withdrawal and do the necessary. Also remember to maintain your DBS account at minimum S$500 or above. You’ll earn small interest.
DBS will send you a monthly statement. Does it sound simple?

AhPek – Dunno wor. HSBC got considered US meh?
JAQC – Shitty bank. LOL.
Kenny P – I actually went into Standard Chartered and thought they are US bank but they are not. So, is HSBC considered US bank?
macwin – Tks! That’s what my friend who cashed the PayPal for me did. But Singapore is too far for me to go to open an account. Hahaha, the amount I am getting does not justify making a trip there. Now, I wonder if DBS is considered US Bank? Cos the problem we are getting now on PayPal is they need us to enter a US Bank.
Cindy – Hey, do try it and tell us, ok?
