Firstly, the very, very basic explanation what tag is – It is like a single word used to describe your whole article. For example, if you are sharing a recipe for apple pie, you tag your post with apple, pie, recipe. Then, in the long run, you will conveniently arrange all the apples into one basket. Very much like our blog categories but with tags, you can break it into smaller parts.
I usually use the Simple Tag plugin to tag my posts so that it shows up on Technorati. Example, if I am writing about wordpress, then, I tag wordpress and the bloggers from the whole world who blogs about wordpress will go into this big pool. It makes it easy for those searching to find our post.
I tried using the Ultimate Tag Warrior previously but it screwed up. Now, with WP 2.3, I just need to type in a few words as the tags. There is a column for you to do that.
Now, in every single post, I have a little list at the bottom with the tags. But…before you can get the tags to appear, you need to add in some codes.
Rich, the guy who writes Aiming For Independence has given a very clear tutorial on how to add the single php code into our themes to make sure the tags appeared. You can read his tutorial in two parts here:
How To Add WordPress 2.3 Tags To Your Current Theme
and
How To Add WordPress 2.3 Tags To Your Current Theme, Part 2
However, I am not sure why the tags on my sidebar widget doesn’t work. :( I used the exec php plugin already.

Will try to implement it…

(September 26, 2007 - 1:22 am)I’ve been searching for a blog platform for the past couple of days. It seems like wordpress is the only way to go these days. Thanks for the info on the tags. I’m making a folder for everything related to wordpress so I’m ready to go. Thanks.
