This is no doubt an attempt by Microsoft to compete with Google. However I believe that even if this deal does go through, that Google will still maintain a lead in the global search market for the indefinite near future. The "Google" name is synonymous with "search" that people use it as a verb (Such as.... Why don't you google that?).
