Few days ago, I blogged about the Chitika WordPress plugin for WordPress self-hosted blogs. I use the Chitika WordPress plugin and inserted Chitika Premium ads under the blog title.
WHAT YOU CANNOT DO WITH GOOGLE ADS, YOU CAN WITH CHITIKA
Before I go on, if you are putting Google Ads right under your blog title, please note that this is against Google Adsense’s policy. The other thing you cannot do is to insert Google ads that blend into your blog post. E.g. a Google ad in the middle of your blog post that looks like part of your post. If you wish to insert in the middle of your blog post, remember to put a border to the ads. I use a light blue one and hope it is fine with Google.
HOW THE CHITIKA WORDPRESS PLUGIN HELPS
I installed the Chitika WordPress plugin on the day it was released. I was away after that and when I got home, I was pleasantly surprised that I am making about USD7 per day instead of my previous daily income of about USD2-3.

Below is another screenshot that shows the huge different in the blog income after I installed Chitika WordPress plugin.
You may wonder, how does the WordPress plugin helps? Well, Chitika ads code are awfully long and I hate hacking into my php files to insert them. So, I never bother putting much Chitika Ads eventhough my blog does get decent US traffic looking for quirky stuffs. Now with the plugin, I can stuff ads like crazy.
CHITIKA ADS VERSUS GOOGLE ADS
You may want to be aware that if your blog is making good income with Google Ads, you wouldn’t want to mess up and add new ads. This could potentially draw your visitors away and if they click on Chitika ads instead of Google, you will lose your income as I cannot be sure if Chitika or Google pays better.
However, some of my blogs have lousy Google ads income so I am experimenting with Chitika ads.
REMEMBER – Chitika Premium Ads only show to US traffic and they only show to organic traffic, i.e. those random strangers who come by our blog and not those regular readers. So, it is not a pain in the ass for our fans.

The thing is – the majority of our publishers are finding that adding our ads along with their Adsense is actually increasing their total revenue (additive revenue from Chitika, without affecting their Adsense revenue). (March 1, 2009 - 10:21 pm)How in the world you got so many traffic from US? I mean if Chitika only points to US traffic and organic search, who will be interested to know things about US unless u blog about them? Do I sound reasonable enough here? Please englighten further. Thanks :)
