26Jun Hongkiat.com hacked too?
It is almost 4 am and I am working till my brain is fried. I am trying to restore my two sites frenzrss.com and my faith blog. If you notice, the sites were gone and so were all my backup. It is my mistake. I had been too reliant on my webmaster to deal with my main blogs and had been slacked with the two sites I hosted elsewhere. Anyway, I do not wish to discuss about the sites as it involves too much silly stuffs, not worth my time to elaborate.
I hosted with a US server and hence, waiting for support tickets is a pain. (I have two webhosts.) Finally I restored the WordPress…and was just about to go to sleep when I decided to read my blog feeds and found Hongkiat.com hacked! OMG, I don’t know to laugh or what because I know Hongkiat must be invincible as he should have the expertise to deal with circumstances like these. Is this another April Fool’s joke, Hongkiat? Or is this just part of the fun of blogging? Or shall I say, welcome to the club? *licking own wounds* Grrggg…I am so sick of reading what is MySQL and how to restore what tar.gz and dunno what database. *sits in corner and cries*

I was looking at hongkiat.com too when I saw that hey! this isn’t right! I don’t think it’s a joke though because on the 25th he wrote about another hacked site. Perhaps his post atracted the hackers?

hahaha…i honestly thot u super-expert wor..becoz I always sit in one corner, rock back n forth, cry..when they keep talking some techie jargon which I don’t under…but have to do!!!!

mott – I only know the lower level of blogging. This one deals with the site and not under Bryan hosting so I die-die oso must sindiri handle the thing lor.
pablopabla – there is a plugin for schedule back-up but those are for your wp posts.
j – Tak apa, kena hack tu dah biasa ler. Saya pun dah kena banyak kali. Hehehe.
jessie – I don’t know. But when I got hacked, normally I will bow to the hackers like what I did with AhPek last time. Plead ignorance and yeah, they did not do much damage but just log us out of our blog.

Is it true that only wordpress blogs are often hacked ? I am sorry …I am new to this hacking thing.
What about Blogger.com ?? I have my own domain but using Blogger.com.
I am sorry that HongKiat got hacked. I think hackers like to challenge those internet savvy sites,right ?

anything can be hacked… just remember to be precaution and take some backup measurements…

cannot access to frenzrss.com. Hmph.. are u password secured? DO u password contain upper case and lowercase and number? If u have those three , it is very hard to hack. It might take few years to hack.. Just make sure u password cannot be found in dictionary…. for example

monk – Aiyor, dun remind me. I mentioned above mah? It got wiped out. WP hacking doesn’t work like that lah. Not guessing password type wan.
iry – LOL, my webmaster normally has the backup for me. So these two sites with bluehost is different and I got lazy so never back-up.
vedis – Yeah, all the time. Sometimes, ppl just play pranks like what they did to ahpek and i the other day.

pablo – dunno ler. i wrote to the webhost and only heard back by 24 hours. By then, people already said i am the hacker. niamah.

Backup is one thing, loss of sensitive data is another…
Sensitive data should be kept encrypted and secured at all times.
BTW, I love working at 4am…
