Do you notice the new features on Google search results?

I know I should be packing my bags, making sure I have the suntan lotion and mosquitoes repellant and such. But I just wish to post one more for the road.

I just notice this today. However, I have been too busy to read and am not sure if it is indeed a new feature Google just added or the feature has been there for a long time already.

Have you noticed that you can pick a result and push it up or X it away? And you can also add comments to the search result.

I am not sure how these new features work. Does it means we can vote or banish a site? Is this helping Google to give surfers better search results?

Being a blogger, I think this feature is rather freaky isn’t it? Will it be subjected to abuses? Won’t competitors kill each other off by adding comments? How do these UP and X work?

If you find any good explanation on this issue, please do share a link? I am really keen to know.

Thanks to Pablo, I notice that OMG, our Google account will be logged and that means….I am dead! My bad deed of X-ing out every competitors is revealed. Help!!!! Heh, I am just joking. But really, read the below screenshot:

Please remember that your SearchWiki notes will be visible to other users, identified with your Google Account nickname. In simple English, if you touch that X button, grandma Google will whack you for making false report. So, don’t be naughty, ok?

It seems that if we were to promote or delete any of the search results, our actions would be logged and shown in subsequent searches. Just try clicking on one of the “promote” or “delete” buttons and a new window will appear giving you an illustration and asking you whether to proceed.

How you rank the SERP will not affect how Google sorts them in other’s eyes. This is just one syiok-sendiri feature. Haha…

    I don’t know o_O

I used to have that green (promote) button but it has disappeared! Which Google do you surf? google.com or google.com.my? (but I don’t think this is related -,-)

This new function means alot of new changes at Google. I’ve had different accounts get access to this feature over the past few months at different times. My first account got it several months back and my other ones just seemed to get it.

Rohaizad, SEO isn’t dead. There will always be SEO, just probably not as we now know it. Keep in mind that if there is a game to ‘game’ that people will find a way to.

I thought the feature is only to personalize out own search engine results. I don’t think our promotion and demotion shouldnt effect the universal ranking.

Well you have to be logged in to see it and I really dont know what to think of it yet.

Im doing an experiment though and I had a bunch of people rank one of my sites for a certain keyword. So far theres no change so who knows even if they have it pushing the data to the servers for ranking purposes.
