Click fraud case in local Malaysian ads (not nuffnang vs Advertlets)

When both [tag]nuffnang[/tag] and [tag]Adverlets[/tag] introduced the CPC, i.e. you get 30 sen to 50 sen whenever someone clicks on your advertisement, I already expect click frauds to happen.

And now, it has happened and Adverlets has penalised one blogger. My blog buddy AhPek posted in his blog about the matter and his views. At the same time, Adverlets have issued their clarification.

We would like to say: Play nice, don’t be evil, and assume we know what you’re doing, because we do.

The original post from the blogger that was penalised by Adverlets has been removed by the blog author.

My take on this? I am glad both nuffnang and Adverlets have the mechanism to track click frauds and give advertisers the confidence that they are paying for value clicks. This way, it will ensure the growth of the local ads industry and benefits us bloggers.

Sometimes, it is good to look at the big picture and play our parts in encouraging online advertisements. How bright the future is, depends on us bloggers.

Some people just don’t get it. I’ve known all along about the mechanism as well as people as bloggers who thought they could “bypass” it.

What really amazed me the most, is, the rationale of complaining when the truth was half shared. Felt like blogging it full post but I guess maybe not, as I don’t want to make the case study of one person all too personal and spreading mixed ideas….
