Check your streamyx broadband speed

Last night, I was utterly utterly mad with the horrendous and horrible speed of the net. (trying to mimic Simon Cowell’s way of speaking :P ). If you are a PayPerPost’s postie, you will understand how crucial it is to rush in, grab the best paying opportunity and take the opportunity. It is a matter of losing USD20 sometimes. USD20 is A LOT OF MONEY to me. And if you multiply that with the number of blogs, you will feel my pain. Can see but cannot touch, kinda deal.

So, I chanced upon Ashotiwoth.com‘s blog post about him being short changed. He provided the link to check out streamyx internet broadband speed and I did a test.

ScreenShot002

I took the TMNet Speedometer test and got about 588 kbs (or whatever they use to measure the speed) download speed. Still, I do not believe this figure because the speed is way much slower than dial-ups. Even today, I had been getting cut off several times eventhough the reading goes up to 600+. And I am paying RM88 per month for a 1Mbs.

So, here goes my rant – TM Net sucks. Your service sucks. Your voice recording sucks. If I am unlucky, your service staff sucks. Your internet speed sucks. And I wish our country has more service providers. You have caused me to lose so many paid posts these few weeks and I hate you! *end of rants*

*sigh* Will we ever get back to ‘normal’ again? It has been weeks since the Taiwan Quake.

This is half of what you are paying for.

Plus this test only shows your speed to the TM.net network, not outside.

Try an international speedtest to get a real reading, it’ll be something like modem speeds.

    You can try:

LOL don’t believe what their speed meter says ….hahaha thats a big laugh i just did a ping on their severs just now….we are on a lease line 2Mps …and their server reply time = 1600ms TTL = 118 thats way off the charts to achieve 2mps downloads or viceversa….tested their speedmeter and the result was ” Notice
Our server is currently busy or unavailable. Please try with another FTP server or try again at a later date.” dont believe the crap this guys tell you ;) you’ll go nuts….specialy talking to their so called “EXPERT TEAM” when they escalate a problem complaint ot this so calle BS team of theirs….

Sorry to say that although TMNet is most likely accountable for a lot of problems, the Taiwan earthquake damage to the undersea cables aren’t their problems, but the problem of either AT&T or whoever operates the trans-oceanic lines.

I’ve just submitted my complaint to TMNut – let’s see what will they reply.
