Text Link Ads publishers – Have you checked if your plugin is working?

This is just a little community message to TextLinkAds publishers that we need to upgrade the Wordpress plugin to version 3.2.2 because the previous one version 3.1.0 were giving problems with the XML files.

I got an email notification from them that Text Link Ads cannot access my sites (not this site, this site does not run TLA). I upgraded the plugin and it works fine.

So, do login in to your Text Link Ads account and see if any of your sites is marked, “Package Inactive”. If it does, delete the old plugin if you are running Wordpress and get a new download of the plugin and activate it. Check back a few hours or a few days later and see if the “Package Inactive” has been taken off. Otherwise, TLA may take your site off their accounts and you won’t earn a thing.

If you are a new blogger and has not heard of Text Link Ads, it is a method of making money with selling text links in your sidebar and also in your posts. However, lately, it is hard to get a site approved by TLA. Usually, they want high traffic and high ranking niche blogs. But you can always give it a try. Oh did I mention that like all make money methods, there are risks attached to it. *in whisper mode* Google doesn’t like to play nice with TLA, so we were told. But what the heck…a few of my blogs are still running TLA in the background.

This used to be my old affiliate link to Text Link Ads but I think it is no longer working.

TLA – The history by Patrick Gavin

Eventhough I had been Google smacked all across my blogs for putting TLA previously, I still am fond of TLA. I no longer sell text links that pass Google juice on this site because I am using the no-follow tags. But on those blogs that are favourites of TLA advertisers, I am still earning a decent income.

Of all the ads companies, I think Text Link Ads has the best customers/publishers support. From the sales and marketing, technical to accounts department, all of them have been very accommodating. In fact, I even have an old post titled “Why I *heart* TLA”

Few days ago, I read the article written by Patrick Gavin on history of TLA and I am full of admiration for the company. The company has survived eventhough it was deindexed. If you search for TLA, text link ads or any similar keywords, you cannot find the company TLA. It is quite sad that I had to drop selling text links through TLA on most of my blogs. I actually like the arrangement of leaving my text links sales be managed by third party because I have so many blogs and catching up with advertisers, negotiating, collecting payments etc will be too much chore for me.

Recently, TLA has use other methods of putting links and I read from some SEO blogs, these will be under Google radar. I don’t know….I treasure my current PR 4/10 so I won’t be selling TLA over here eventhough I used to get USD80/2 per link. (50% to me, 50% to TLA).

But for the benefits of those bloggers who wish to give TLA a try, I am putting the little 125×125 on my sidebar for a few days. The 125×125 looks so pathetic being all empty. I hope Google won’t kill my PR over a small button like that? On a no-follow blog too!

Why I heart TLA

They pay the fastest. I already received my payment for November and had even withdrawn and cashed out. (I can only withdraw USD500 each day so I hate waiting and cashed it out in other ways.)

Their service is the best-est.

When I requested TLA to remove the text link ads from two of my blog in my ‘Google worshipping’ drive, they did it pronto and with a nice, understanding email too.

I still have many sites selling TextLinkAds and they are still making me good money.

So, if you got nothing to lose and wants to earn money, sign up with TextLinkAds.

Lovely to be greeted by Text Link Ads mails

When you monetize your site, there is a certain thrill in opening your emails each morning. You will be pleasantly surprised to get mails from all the various companies you work for.

It can be emails from Paypal telling you that you have just received a huge payment overnight.

It can be emails from paid post companies telling you that you have been hired to do some paid reviews.

Or it can be from TextLinkAds telling you that you have sold even more links since yesterday.

Emails like the above says I have just sold another text link ad. This means more money.

And if you are questioning the wisdom of selling text links, I got a very good question to ask you back.

Imagine….if you do not sell text link or do paid post but just survive on Google Adsense, are you able to earn the amount of money like what you do? For example, I made USD5K in September 2007. Google Adsense only make up of less than 20% of my income. So, why worry? Google doesn’t dictate how we use our blog. We do.

Have you changed your Text Link Ads to tinyurl yet?

I didn’t get any email from TextLinkAds nor ReviewMe. I am not sure why but my email seems to have dropped off from their record and many times, they ended up in the spam bin.

I heard that Text Link Ads wants all their publishers to change their links to tinyurl. So far, I only managed to complete one blog. Sigh..so much work to do. I suspect the tinyurl will not look so obvious to Google. BTW, you are aware that TextLinkAds cannot be found on the first few pages of Google searches, right? I noticed that since June and had blogged about why TextLinkAds is not on Google searches.

You get LinkWorth if you Google text link ads. This is one reason why you should sign up with LinkWorth now because advertisers who are looking to buy text links are likely to stumble on LinkWorth. Or the other alternative is Kontera but this is the link placed within our posts.

TextLinkAds works very well for me on my other blogs and many of them have sold all the 10 slots. I get a constant income totalling USD700 from TLA alone, which is very good as I do not need to do anything except collect my payment at the end of each month.

Now, those of you who received the notification from TLA, can you tell me if I need to change my plugin as well? I only change my affiliate banner and links so far. I am not sure when I am going to get an email from TLA but I have asked them to mail to me the notice to change to tinyurl.

I have a category for TextLinkAds detailing how to sell your links successfully and how much I earn in the previous months. Give TLA a try. The company has been doing great until recently when they are dropped off Google. I heard some quarters said they are serving porn ads but I do not believe them because the publishers have the choice to select their advertisers. I used to have a penis enlargement ads in Spanish and I think it is mighty funny until one of my local advertiser mentioned they refused to advertise on my site. I told TLA and they took off the ad immediately without question. So, basically it is our choice, really.
