15Feb Best, free spyware, virus and adware protection software, anyone?
Just a quick post. Anyone has recommendation for free virus protection, spyware and adware protection software which I can download online?
My new laptop comes with McAfee but it is expiring soon. I tried using Spyware Terminator but it bothers the hell out of me with the constant warning. So, I have uninstalled. I am going to uninstall the McAfee too.
So, I really need free virus protection ASAP.
Sheesshh….I hate Window Vista. I love my Mac. No need to bother about these virus shits.

Try Malwarebytes. It works pretty well for me, but it’s not the McAfee type of anti-virus software that will have real-time protection. Gotta manually update and scan yourself.

I use AVG Anti-Virus and Ad-aware. They’re both free and can be downloaded online. So far so good for me.

I thought Vista got Window Defender, It should protect you from virus attack. AVG not strong enough, it got back-door.

Auntie, you can try BitDefender or Avira AntiVir or AVG. I’m using all of them on my laptops and PCs. Personally I like AVG and Avira the most, but I would advise you to try them all and select the one you most fancy. They are all free mah.
Having said that, I believe you won’t mind me promoting one of our reviews about AVG Anti-Virus Free edition over at http://www.reviewcolumn.net/2008/01/21/avg-anti-virus-free-edition/ , for you and your readers as a reference.
Good luck trying and selecting. =p

if you hate windows so much, why not stick with your mac? nobody is forcing you to use windows! if there are some applications that only runs on windows, then stop complaining and about windows! nobody is forcing you to use it! for once, stop using that lame excuse of mac not having any virus, that is the stupidest excuses every! That’s like saying I prefer isolating myself in my own room due to the germs outside! Therefore, isolating myself is a good thing!
Get a PC! Ditch your Mac!

Anti virus now is very cheap…3 users license cost only less than RM 100. I am sure you can afford it.

I’d recommend AVG for anti-virus – used it for years, my old company used to use it too. For firewall, I used to use ZoneAlarm, but it ended up causing problems with Firefox, so now I have Comodo which was highly recommended by various reviews. It’s good so far.

Yup wing long. Antivirus really cheap now and if you really don’t want to lose your money. Just find it at warez forum or torrent site..

My advice, avoid norton! It slows your PC down to a crawl. Like already suggested AVG free antivirus is great. I also use Spybot Search and destroy (freeware).

i have tried quite a few of free AVs…
AVG is just too bloated now
NOD32 let a few nasties into my m/c
Avast – just didn’t turn me on
Avira is actually standing the test of time for me over the last 6 months
Comodo I tried a couple of years back – don’t know why I removed it but its working pretty well on my Windows7 m/c at work (yes – I’ve totally ditched XP – never did the Vista thing – Win7 is looking pretty robust and sexy at the mo.)
