Bad English is not an excuse

I just happened to stumble upon a local blogger who boasted about his ability to earn money writing paid posts. Well, not only that, he said he dislike banner ads because they make his blog (a free platform, mind you) ugly. Then, he showed off his RM50 income to tell us how rich he is.

Well, I applaud that. But….his English makes me cringe. I know my English is bad too but at least I am coherent. Oh well, I mean my English makes sense. His short intro on the About page goes something like these:

“This is a blog by me to blog about making money from this blog.”

Doink! That’s three blogs in one short sentence.

After that little intro, I did not bother to see the quality of his paid post. I wouldn’t want to waste my time.

I don’t mean to play grammar police. No one likes that. But at least if you are going to put your hands out to the advertisers to take their money, improve your English a bit. I have seen many advertisers turning purple because they had to pay for lousily written paid reviews. People who cannot tell between ‘then’ and ‘than’, ‘their’ and ‘there’, singular and plural, past and present tense and simple rules like that.

I rely on my Word document, WordPress dashboard and WordWeb to point out to me when I do something wrong. If I see those niggling red lines, I will go back and find out why. Then, only we can improve.

Get your free download of WordWeb from this site. It is by far the best Free Thesaurus. I learnt many new words from it. I hope it helps you too.

Practice makes perfect, trust me on that. I tell that to all my friends whenever they remarked on my command of English, but they didn’t seem to believe me. LOL.

My grammar is terrible and there is mistakes scattered in every post. However, I rarely go back and change nowadays as its just a blog article and the words almlost always can carry the meaning over.
