14Sep Backup your WordPress blog, darn it!
Ok, forgive the darn it language but that’s what I want to drive into every bloggers’ mind. I relied heavily on my webmaster to deal with all the dirty job of restoring sites and etc. When I venture out to BlueHost (while still maintaining the VPS hosting managed by Bryan), I realised how inadequate I was. You see, Bryan as the webmaster does the job for me. Got hacked? Restore. But on BlueHost, I didn’t do that. I back-up but it was months ago and my files were corrupted. I lost two sites there and didn’t manage to recover much. (I have two webhost, one with BlueHost, one a VPS with Bryan)
So, this is very serious reminder to you guys blogging from WordPress.org on your own hosting. Get this plugin :
WordPress Database Backup by By Austin Matzko.
Install the plugin and get your blog auto back-up. Note that this is not the same plugin that comes with our WordPress. This newer plugin will auto backup at schedule time and you can opt to have it mailed to your email. I have all my blogs back-up daily and mailed to a gmail account. Otherwise, you can have them stored on your server or back-up into your PC.
Go get the back-up done because I have lost two blogs and I don’t want that to happen to anyone. It sucks. I lost several paid posts and lost money as well.
BACK-UP, BACK-UP, BACK-UP, BACK-UP, BACK-UP……Do it.

I am using a plugin introduced by John Chow which helps me to update and back up easily.
Used it in upgrading from 2.2 to 2.2.3. It works but I am not sure for the upcoming big upgrades.
