2008 starts with a big bang

Let’s start the new year with a big bang. Over here, it is already 2008! HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

I just returned home from attending the New Year countdown at The Esplanade. It is a public event organised by the State Government. We spent an hour to reach the destination, 7 minutes to watch the fireworks and another one hour to get home.

I can feel good vibes emanating already! I am Chinese and though a Christian, I still have some Chinese-y old habits. 2008 is a beautiful number. It means yee leng-leng-fatt. Fatt means we are going to prosper. It is also a year of the Rat which starts on February 7th, 2008. And where Chinese zodiacs are concerned, Rat, Monkey and Dragon form this triangle of ‘good buddies’. It means it will be smooth sailing all the way. My hubby and #3 son are born in the year of the rat and my #2 son is a monkey.

So, for good fengshui, I have changed my theme to this one call the ‘RedBusiness’. It is from Ericulous. I change the theme because the previous one looks weird on my Symbian and Opera Mini browser when viewed on my mobile phone. It also looks ‘stacked’ in Safari on my iMac. I have changed a few WordPress theme for some of my blogs. I have also upgraded to WP 2.3.2 for most of my blogs. Easy peasy, I just dump everything. (don’t try this, it is risky)

More happy news greeted me apart from the PR revival. This blog is once again listed in the Top 100 Make Money blogs. It dropped to position #88 when I got PR 0. A while ago, Marc of 45n5 have updated the list and woohoo! This blog is now on #28. Yee-fatt, more prosperity. Yammmmmm Senggggg (that’s cheers in Cantonese)

I have also tabulated my income for December 2007. Well, I guess I should be happy that I manage to scrape USD2+K or around RM7K. It is a huge drop from my previous months income but I shouldn’t complain. I chose this path of not monetizing a lot of sites in order to go by Google quality guidelines.

Pardon the long rambling but I feel good. I believe 2008 will see a totally new way of blogging. Serious bloggers will work harder to improve their blogs to stay on top of the huge blog dump we are experiencing. My strategy is to live by my gut instinct. I will make sure I don’t end up being a ‘fanboi’ and be part of any herd.

To all my blog buddies whom had shared good tips and give moral support, thanks a bunch. May we continue to make lots of money in 2008.
